Aruba air travel is quick and easy. When you arrive at Aruba’s air conditioned Queen Beatrix International Airport you will notice how clean and well kept it is. You will be impressed with their well organized process to get you through immigration and on your way to enjoy the island paradise of Aruba. This is an easy, no hassles process as long as all your papers are in order. In a nutshell, Aruba air travel is a breeze.
U.S bound passengers benefit from their own terminal building in the Aruba airport
that has a U.S. INS/Customs facility, allowing flights from Aruba to
enter the United States as domestic flights. This is a real timesaver
because you will not have to stand on long lines to get through US
Customs when you get back to the USA. Just get your luggage and leave.
There are daily non-stop flights to Aruba from New York, Newark, Boston,
Miami and other cities in Europe and South America. The island is
served by many airlines and connections can be made to anywhere in the
world. This airport is now known as a hub in the Caribbean.
Aruba is served year round by air charter flights from many
cities including Detroit, Chicago, Boston, and Hartford. There are also
seasonal air charter flights to Aruba from various U.S. states. Canada,
and Brazil have Aruba charter flight services. Aruba air travel is also
available through European charters.
Inside the airport there is both an Aruba bank and an ATM for your
convenience. At the arrival area you will notice there are friendly
faces greeting you with beach bags, coupons, etc. Once you gather your
luggage, you will notice people outside directing you to various means
of transportation to get you to your Aruba resort. We usually take the air conditioned DePalm Tours
bus service since we have already paid for transfers from home through a
package deal. You will see them right out front waiting for you. There
are Aruba rental cars
across from the airport or you can take a taxi if you prefer. All taxi
rates are regulated by the government. Most resorts are within a 10 to
20 minute ride from the airport.
When it’s time to leave the
island, you will notice the departure area has a few shops to buy duty
free liquor, gifts, perfumes, clothing, magazines, etc. There are a few
restaurants for you to pick up sandwiches, snacks and beverages. Since
most airlines now charge for food, this might be a better option for
you. Or you can eat pizza, ice cream and other goodies while waiting for
your departure.
We did notice something new this year. We were surprised to see a mini
airport Casino! We didn’t go inside but there were people in there
feeding the slot machines.
To sum it up...Aruba air travel to and
from this island is a pleasant experience. No hassles, no frustrations,
just a small amount of sadness for having our Aruba vacation end. That is...until next year!
